We are praying that thousands of Igembe people that live and operate next to this building are safe.
Cries of Igembe North. Reports indicate that the bandits were reported to the local authorities on several occasions within the month of March.
It's clearly a case of negligence.
Makarina's past has been exposed.
WACHENI KUTEBEBA MANDAZI
"What is your net worth? How much are you worth?"
Every time a nominee is asked this question, I am left wondering who exactly bewitched the Kenyan parliament. What is the intended purpose of this inquiry? Is it to showcase the wealth of our cabinet secretaries to the Kenyan public?
For your information, Mr Wetangula, you can deceive some people some time, but you cannot deceive all the people all the time.
In my view, this question serves as a mere cosmetic display of the fight against corruption, while simultaneously creating a convenient avenue for embezzlement and plunder.
Why do I assert this? A truly serious parliament would not waste precious time on a question whose answer cannot be independently verified. Instead, they should mandate the parliamentary research team to conduct in-depth investigations into the financial history of each nominee. This should include a thorough examination of their bank accounts with the Central Bank of Kenya, a review of land registry documents, an analysis of car registration records, and a verification of their tax remittances. Rather than attempting to sanitize graft and shield drug lords, they should be held accountable and compelled to explain the sources of their wealth.
As it stands, our current approach is merely a spectacle designed to attract headlines and mislead the uninformed populace, while blatantly disregarding the fundamental principles enshrined in our 2010 constitution. Our esteemed Members of Parliament must awaken from their slumber and cease treating us like gullible fools.
The net worth question is nothing more than a calculated ploy to provide a convenient cover for nominees to engage in unchecked plunder and embezzlement upon their appointment. "Msitubebe mandazi," as they say, it's time to move on.
