Visit The Pope for prayers to stop lying, Gachagua tells Ruto

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has taken a swipe against President Dr. William Ruto who is on official duties in Italy mocking him to visit The Holy See for prayers to "stop lying".

Gachagua was speaking when he led The United Alternative Government in criticizing President Ruto’s administration, condemning what they describe as misguided policies that adversely affect the people of Kenya.

Led by DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua, the opposition leaders have also taken a swipe at Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale, accusing him of misinformation regarding the healthcare system for teachers under the SHA.

Gachagua has asserted that teachers are still suffering under the SHA system, facing frustration, and claims that officials from KUPPET and KNUT have been compromised.

He has called on teachers to organize demonstrations against the SHA system.

Regarding the recent land grabbing allegations involving allies of the president CS Murkomen, Oscar Sudi and MP Kururia, Gachagua has alleged that these individuals have the president’s backing, accusing him of being involved in land grabbing and the sale of critical government infrastructure, such as Safaricom.

Similar sentiments have been echoed by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Kalonzo Musyoka also pledged that the opposition would organize large-scale demonstrations, including all opposition leaders, to protest the high cost of living and to condemn what they describe as poor leadership by President Ruto.

The opposition leaders are currently on a two-day “Meet the People” tour in Kitui County, with plans to proceed to the Coast region for further public engagement.

Condoms' price to increase by 30% due to Iran war

The boss of the world's biggest condom maker, Karex, says the firm will raise its prices by up to 30% or possibly more if the Iran war continues to disrupt supplies of the raw materials used in its products.

Karex's chief executive Goh Miah Kiat told media outlets that production costs have risen sharply since the start of the conflict.

The Malaysia-based firm produces more than five billion condoms a year and supplies leading global brands like D***x and Trojan, as well as state health systems like the UK's NHS.

Goh made the comments in interviews with Reuters and Bloomberg. The BBC has contacted the company.

Global oil supplies have been severely disrupted since Iran responded to US and Israeli airstrikes with threats to target vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

That has effectively closed the waterway, causing huge disruptions to global supply chains.

Around a fifth of the world's crude oil and liquified natural gas (LNG) - as well as other petrochemicals - usually passes through the strait.

Karex relies on materials derived from oil, including ammonia - which is used to preserve latex - and silicone-based lubricants.
