ADSE with partners from Justdiggit officially launched the Kijani App at St. Peter’s Katangini Church in Kalawa Ward of Makueni County. The launch event brought together community members, local leaders, farmers, and church congregants, marking an important milestone in promoting climate-smart agriculture and environmental restoration in the region. Following the launch, the ADSE and Justdiggit team joined the congregation for the church service, where they were given an opportunity to sensitize members on the purpose and benefits of the Kijani App. During the session, the team highlighted how the app serves as a practical digital tool designed to support farmers with accessible, easy-to-understand information on regreening techniques, soil restoration, water conservation, and sustainable land management practices.
Through live demonstrations, farmers were guided on how to download, navigate, and utilize the app using their mobile phones. Emphasis was placed on the app’s user-friendly features, offline accessibility options, and locally relevant content tailored to the needs of smallholder farmers in dryland areas. Farmers are now actively using the app, supported by internet connectivity, to access valuable learning resources, instructional videos, and step-by-step guides on regreening and sustainable land management. The initiative is expected to strengthen community resilience to climate change, improve land productivity, and enhance livelihoods through informed and sustainable agricultural practices. The launch reflects ADSE’s continued commitment to leveraging innovation and partnerships to empower communities, promote environmental stewardship, and foster long-term socio-economic transformation in Kalawa Ward and beyond.
