FCDC today hosted Reuben Wambugu Mwangi, Group Managing Director for Bridge International Academies Kenya; Hanif Poona; and Francis Salu at our offices in a meeting led by the CEO, FCDC.

Drawing from the Bridge presentation, the discussions provided valuable insights into their model and experience in delivering structured, technology-enabled learning. Building on this, FCDC pitched for deeper collaboration to strengthen ECDE systems across the Frontier Counties through scalable digital learning approaches, teacher support models, and data-driven decision-making.

We emphasized opportunities to align on county-led priorities, including integration of digital content into ECDE classrooms, strengthening teacher capacity through continuous professional development, and enhancing monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems to track outcomes.

The conversation also explored pathways for co-creating an inclusive EdTech ecosystem—leveraging partnerships with government, development actors, and the private sector—to ensure sustainability, equity, and ownership at the county level.

We look forward to building on today’s engagement and advancing concrete next steps towards a structured partnership that delivers measurable and lasting outcomes for young learners across the Frontier region.

As the academic term nears its close, sit-in assessments on digital learning are being conducted in Mandera and Garissa counties. These assessments focus on Grade 8 learners at Khadija Ummul Muminin Primary & Junior School in Mandera and Grade 7 learners at Garissa Primary & Junior School.

The exercise aims to evaluate comprehension, practical application, and mastery of digital learning concepts among learners. It also provides critical insights into the effectiveness of digital learning interventions, helping FCDC identify learning gaps and plan targeted support strategies ahead of the next academic cycle.

At the Frontier Counties Development Council, we remain committed to equipping learners across frontier counties with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a digitally-driven world. Through initiatives like this, we continue to ensure that every learner has the opportunity to succeed in the 21st century.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation Digital Learning Project continues to make steady progress in Marsabit County.

This morning, the Marsabit MOE–RPF Project Focal Person, Mr. Gollo Yattani, together with County Trainer Ms. Jane Ndambala and four participating teachers from partner schools, conducted a brief sit-in assessment with 15 Grade 7 learners from St. Teresa Primary and Junior School. The session aimed to gauge learners’ comprehension of the ICT strands and sub-strands covered so far under the Computing curriculum.

Beyond assessing knowledge, the team created space for learners to share their experiences—highlighting progress made, challenges encountered, and practical mitigation measures to strengthen delivery. The interactive engagement provided valuable feedback on learner confidence, content retention, and areas requiring reinforcement.

Such reflective check-ins are critical to ensuring quality implementation, continuous improvement, and meaningful impact in our schools. Together, we remain committed to strengthening digital literacy and equipping learners with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world.
