The Community Health Promotion Fund (CHPF), in partnership with North Coast Medical Training College, is expanding Health Information Points (HIPs) across schools in Kilifi South advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) through accessible, reliable health information.
New HIPs in Kolewa, Barani, Mtepeni, and Mtomondoni are empowering learners and communities to make informed health choices and embrace preventive care.
A recent engagement at Mtomondoni Primary strengthened collaboration between health and education stakeholders.

The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for our partners to directly engage with community members—the very people at the heart of our work. Through open dialogue, beneficiaries shared their experiences and expressed sincere appreciation for the impactful interventions made possible through this collaboration. Their voices underscored the tangible difference being made in advancing accessible, community-centered healthcare.
The Health Information Point (HIP) model continues to demonstrate its value as an innovative approach to decentralizing essential health services—bringing care closer to households and strengthening community resilience. This initiative remains a key pillar in our collective efforts toward achieving Universal Health Coverage.

The visit was led by CHPF Programs Manager Miss Addah Alela alongside the COBES Manager, and was attended by UHC project partners, the CEO of Baraka HealthNet, the Country Representative of German Doctors, and other key stakeholders.

Strengthening Sustainability: CHPF Hosts SRHR Refresher Training for COBEs Team

The CHPF-SRHR project recently reached a significant milestone in its mission to strengthen local health initiatives by hosting a five-day "Refresher Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)" at the Beaumont Hotel. This intensive workshop was specifically designed to equip the entire COBES team with the specialized skills needed to handle and provide Adolescent and Youth Friendly Services (AYFS). By focusing on the unique needs of young people, the training ensures that healthcare delivery in Kilifi South is not only accessible but also respectful and tailored to the younger generation.

Throughout the week, the sessions fostered a deep understanding of how to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and the youth, with Stella Bendera (SCPHN, Kilifi South) facilitating key sessions to guide the team through these critical rights-based services. The dedication of the participants was evident in every discussion as they worked together to refine their approach to youth engagement. The week culminated in a celebratory awards ceremony where trainers Emmanuel Mrira Koti (SCRHC) and Stella Bendera joined COBES Manager Madam Jane Mabuko to present completion certificates to all the team members. This collective recognition marks a major step forward in building a sustainable, youth-centered health workforce for our community.
