The Vinya
08/03/2026
The world runs on the labor of working-class women.
Women who weave, grow, build, organize, and care.
Today we don’t celebrate “empowerment.”
We recognize the women whose work has always held communities together.
The women who weave fiber into livelihoods.
Knowledge into systems.
Care into resistance.
At Vinya Weaving Lab, we honor the women whose hands sustain traditions, economies, and futures.
International Day of Marching Working Class Women.
Because the thread that holds the world together is still in their hands.
ĨTILI YĨ MŨSYĨ ĨYAA KYA OVA
My grandma’s favorite quote translating to;
“A thread that is at home will never lack something to hold together.”
It expresses the idea that when you stay rooted in your place, community, and responsibilities, you will always find purpose and connection.
It reflects:
• care
• belonging
• continuity
• responsibility to what surrounds you
To the women of this world, we see you and we weave for you.

We Are Being Celebrated!
This Thursday (Today), April 17, 9:00–10:30 pm EAT, Vinya Weaving Lab is honored to be spotlighted in Co-creating Funding Ecosystems, a series hosted by CoFundEco that uplifts regenerative, community-rooted initiatives across Africa.
Vinya Weaving Lab is a living space where we bridge Tradition, Innovation, and Empowerment with a systems Approach.. Weaving is not just a craft but a method for holding complexity, making sense of experience, and building solidarity. Through ancestral skill-sharing, craft production, and weaving conversations, we work to strengthen the resilience, creativity, and wisdom already alive in our communities.
This celebration is both an invitation to witness our journey and a call to co-create sustainable ways to resource this work. We’re grateful to and the organizing team for curating this space.
Let’s come together to imagine what’s possible when we fund not just projects, but ecosystems of healing, learning, and liberation.
