The other day I took time off from work after a busy season and had the honor and privilege to go see Johnny Depp’s exhibition in Tokyo. I have been a huge fan of Johnny since 6th grade🙈 I was aware of his talents outside of acting but it was so cool to experience his world outside of movies after all of these years. I love going to art exhibitions because there is such a deep and spiritual connection that I feel when I am surrounded by an artist’s work, in the same way we get chills when we hear a song that speaks to us.
I cannot put into words how special and emotional it was being surrounded by Johnny’s artwork and music. It is a completely different feeling from watching him act on a television screen. I could feel him in every room, in every sketch, in every item placed. There is almost this familiarity and bond that we get to experience with an artist that we relate to, and even though I never met him and he sure doesn’t know me that was exactly what I experienced.
I went with my brother and it makes me so happy that he genuinely enjoyed and related with Johnny’s story. He also took some cool photos of me which I don’t usually do for myself haha.
I don’t feel like I am saying everything that I want to say because I literally cannot put into words what I felt that day. I will end this rant by saying that it has truly inspired me as an artist and I never, ever want to forget this feeling.
I felt so sad leaving that exhibition (I’m even crying as I type this out🥲). I want to try and go again one last time (which makes me even sadder just thinking about it🥲). I truly wish that exhibition would stay there, forever. I never want it to go (continued in comments).
