It originated in Iwate prefecture of Japan during the 17th century and is still produced today by skilled artisans in the same region. Tetsubin is made using a special type of sand mold that allows the cast iron to be shaped with intricate details and patterns. Our Tetsubin has been certified as a traditional craft by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan. It is not mass
produced. Skilled craftsmen put their hearts into making each one by hand.
