Located in the southern region of Jordan, close to the impressive Shobak Castle, lies what is considered The Smallest Hotel In The World. The ingenious owner, Mohammed Al Malaheem, affectionately known as “Abu Ali,” has transformed his old and dilapidated Volkswagen Beetle into a cozy and quirky “hotel” that can accommodate up to two people. Abu Ali, a retired security guard, is well-known for his unique business idea that has made him famous around the world
In 1990, at the age of 65, Abu Ali retired from his job, but his small pension was not enough to support his family of five. To make ends meet, he continued working as a tourist guide. During this time, he bought an old VW Beetle from a friend, which had an engine failure and had been idle for two years. Abu Ali saw an opportunity and decided to transform the car into a cozy hotel, complete with all the necessary amenities.
Since then, Abu Ali has been advertising his hotel with the slogan “the smallest hotel in the world” and has gained attention from visitors all around the world. The transformation of the VW Beetle into a cozy and unique hotel has made Abu Ali famous, and he has become a well-known figure in the area. Visitors to the region are always eager to experience a night or two in this one-of-a-kind accommodation.
