Reggae and Dance Hall recording artiste/Producer Rico Tayla spent his childhood living in several communities including Kingston, Portmore and New York, it is to this moving around as a child that he attributes the varying influences in his music, he states “My music is a testament of all the things I have been through, I can only speak on a topic if I have seen or personally experience it”. His
father and uncle were devoted collectors of Dance Hall Tapes, his mother was an avid R&B listener and his grandmother had an endless love affair with country music. While attending Meadowbrook High School Rico and a group of friends decided to form the group Frass Squad and pursue music professionally. He went on to record his first song “VIP” for Small House Productions while still in high school and made a name for himself performing alongside group members at concerts across Jamaica.
