he downtown business district. It is a testimony to the Jamaican architecture because although it was built to the UN specifications, the material and craft are distinctively Jamaican. There are five conference rooms, three caucus rooms, a printery space, reception foyer, two story dining block, two delegates’ lounges and offices. All conference rooms are capable of facilitating simultaneous interpretation of six different languages. The main conference room, Conference Room 1, is equipped with an electronic voting system, public and press galleries and an elevated podium on a circular stage for artistic performances. In Conference Room 2, there are similar features but it also has offices for secretariats and a document distribution centre. The third conference room, Conference Room 3 boasts a purely Jamaican look and feel. Bamboo is the main theme of the décor; the bamboo ceiling provides a warm artistic atmosphere and identity of being purely Jamaican. The layouts for all rooms are designed in either a semi-circular fashion or in vertical blocks to suit delegations. The rental of the facilities includes janitorial services, water service for head tables, air conditioning for the conference and caucus rooms and normal lighting. Although other conferencing facilities exist locally and regionally, the design and services offered by the J.C.C. creates its value proposition or uniqueness providing its distinction for the target market.
