🇬🇧 Do you also like to study outdoors when there is such a beautiful sunny day?

Sunlight:
☀️ It is essential for the production of vitamin D, an ally for bone development
☀️ Promotes muscle relaxation and joint mobility
☀️ Improves mood by stimulating the production of serotonin

🇬🇧 Evolution of the artificial heart
The artificial heart is an alternative to transplant, useful in cases where it is not possible to have a compatible donor in adequate times. The number of people with heart disease also prompted doctors and engineers to research on an artificial device that performs the function of the heart.

💟 1935: First creation of a perfusion pump that allowed blood circulation during open heart operations. The engineer Charles Lindbergh together with the surgeon Alexis Carrel created the "glass-heart".

💟 1969: Doctors Liotta and Cooley implanted, for the first time, an artificial heart on a patient, that allow him to survive for 3 days while waiting for the transplant of a real heart.

💟 1982: Physicist Robert Jarvik created the Jarvik 7 device, which included two pumps powered by a compressor, external to the body and very bulky, so that the patient, despite having a functioning heart, could not leave the hospital.

💟 1985: The Cardio West, also called SynCardia TAH, is a device that is small enough to be implanted directly into the chest, consisting of two separate ventricles and four disc valves. It is still used today all over the world.

💟 2001: The AbioCor was implanted for the first time, consisting of three systems that together make it possible to charge the device and transmit data to the doctor. The external part reads the parameters of the implanted system and powers it and everything is controlled by the electronic system.

💟 2021: Carmat TAH was approved in the European Union in January 2021. It is a device that can adapt to the patient's needs and represents a real alternative to transplants.
