IRuna

IRuna is the solo project of the Italian - Latin American musician Irene Montesi, born with the intention of mixing Latin culture and sounds with the Italian songwriter. After the release of the EP "Bacche di Goji", in 2018 the self-produced project was chosen to play in important music venues in the city of Rome and Italy (Spaghetti Unplugged, Monk, Le Mura, Largo Venue, Off Topic, Mercato Sonat

o). At the end of 2019 the collaboration between Irene Montesi and Matteo Domenichelli (bassist of Giorgio Poi, as well as producer for Bomba Dischi, biggest Italian Indie Label) begins in the production of an LP that can work on this melting pot of cultures on a sound, lyrics and stylistic level. In May 2020, she published on Soundcloud "Come Tutti" a low-fi EP recorded at home during the lockdown period, the song "Esco" was chosen for a short film finalist of the ICARO - Festival Internacional de Cine en Centro America; in the summer of the same year the single "Fuori Tempo" was released, distributed by The Orchard (Sony). In 2021 two singles have been released that anticipated the release of the album, among these "Selva" a song on gender discrimination, whose videoclip was shot in simultaneous co-directing between Italy and Costa Rica. These three singles were selected for editorial Spotify playlist and had a consistent success for an Independent artist. "Blue" her first LP was released in December 2021 distributed by Artist First and was positively received by critics at a national level: among others, Rockit, Onda Rock Rumore, Radio 2 Indie, Radio 1 Music club the main public italian radio programs. It has been defined as "A political record that talks about Love" for its ability to deal with intimate, often uncomfortable topics, exposing the vulnerabilities of human being. Jointly, the project enters the DNA Concerti Booking roster and in 2022 begins to perform live on tour in different regions of Italy. In particular, in April 2022 IRuna was opening act of Margherita Vicario's club tour and in August 2022 the project was selected among the finalists of the competition in collaboration with Nuovo Imaie (the main Artist Collecting society in Italy) for playing at the 25th edition of the Ypsigrock Festival. Due to its international sound, despite the Italian language, the project is suitable for being exported abroad. While waiting to continue presenting "Blue" in other lives, IRuna is continuing to write and compose new songs, expecting the release of new singles by winter 2022, among these songs she wrote a spanish song part of the soundtrack of the movie "Amanda" presented in Venice Festival.
