What do tour guides do in the low season? Well... we study new itineraries, take specific courses, do sites inspections, network with agencies and travel of course! Yesterday I explored the Baths of Caracalla in depth and was amazed by an area opened to the public just a couple of years ago, a Roman house - named Vigna Guidi - built in the area in the early second century A.D., so around one hundred years before the costruction of the massive Baths! When you come back to Rome, mark it as one of your must-see tours :)

Il passaggio del corteo funebre di Papa Francesco lungo via dei Fori Imperiali, sotto il Colosseo, diretto a Santa Maria Maggiore. Il tragitto ricalca in parte, dopo secoli, la via Papalis ovvero l'itinerario che i pontefici percorrevano da San Pietro a San Giovanni in Laterano, sede del vescovo di Roma, per prendere possesso della cattedra episcopale. La via Papalis prevedeva l’uscita dal Vaticano di un lungo corteo composto da ecclesiastici e da tutti i componenti della corte e, a seguire, una simbolica ascensione al Campidoglio, la discesa verso il Foro Romano lungo la Via Sacra e la risalita nella valle del Colosseo costeggiando l'Anfiteatro.
