Il 7 Agosto 1951 viene inaugurato ed aperto al traffico il primo tratto del Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA), tra Aurelia ed Appia, a sole due corsie.
Arteria di importanza critica per la viabilità cittadina della Capitale, ha una media di 160.000 attraversamenti giornalieri e risulta spesso al primo posto, negli ultimi dieci anni, tra le autostrade e tangenziali italiane per tasso di incidenti.
La vita intorno al Grande Raccordo Anulare è il soggetto del film "Sacro GRA" (2013), che ha vinto il Leone d'Oro per il miglior film della 70ª edizione della Mostra del Cinema di Venezia.

🇬🇧 ON THIS DAY IN ROME
On August 7th 1951 the first section of the Grande Raccordo Anulare (GRA), between the Aurelia and Appia roads, with only two lanes, was inaugurated and opened to traffic.
An artery of critical importance for the city's road network, it has an average of 160,000 daily crossings and is often in first place, in the last ten years, among the Italian motorways and ring roads for accident rates.
Life around the Grande Raccordo Anulare is the subject of the film "Holy GRA" (2013), which won the Golden Lion for Best Film at the 70th Venice Film Festival.
