The UN World Food Programme delivers food and lifesaving support in crises and helps communities scale up solutions to hunger and malnutrition. In 1965, WFP became a fully-fledged UN programme, to last for “as long as multilateral food aid is found feasible and desirable”. In a world of plenty, where enough food is produced to feed everyone on the planet, hunger should be a thing of the past. Howe

📍Venezuela. In the areas worst affected by the earthquakes, WFP is scaling up food assistance to displaced families in temporary shelters.

Through integrated service centres, families can also access water, healthcare, protection and psychosocial support, helping meet urgent needs while they begin to rebuild.

WFP is also supporting the wider humanitarian response through its logistics capacity, helping to transport supplies, provide storage capacity and improve connectivity in areas where roads and infrastructure have been damaged.

WFP already has enough food in the country to support more than 10,000 families for two months, and is aiming to provide food assistance to up to 500,000 people over the next three months, if new funding is secured.

📍Venezuela: In the days after a disaster, families need more than food.

In La Guaira, WFP is supporting displaced families with meals while working alongside authorities and humanitarian partners ensuring access to water, healthcare, protection and other essential services — helping people recover with dignity.
