Mirador (2005) in Madrid, designed by MVRDV, challenges conventional high-rise housing by treating the building as a vertical neighborhood. The most striking feature is the large void at its center—a shared sky plaza at the 12th floor, offering residents communal outdoor space with panoramic views of the Sierra de Guadarrama. The façade, a patchwork of varying apartment typologies, reflects MVRDV’s interest in diversity and urban density. More than just a residential tower, Mirador rethinks how collective living can integrate public and private spaces in high-rise design.
