Nove pagine totali di articolo/intervista + la quarta di copertina è davvero qualcosa che non ci aspettavamo dopo aver pubblicato BLACK AND GOLD, ma ne siamo comunque orgogliosi e fieri, nel nostro essere rigorosamente indipendenti e autonomi. È già passato un anno.

Ho conosciuto Paolo Sala nell'ottobre del 2010, sul gruppo dei Cardiacs, e subito abbiamo legato, trainati dalla passione comune per il genio di Tim Smith. Abbiamo cominciato a parlare dei nostri gusti musicali, lui mi faceva sentire le sue cose ed io le mie, spesso spronandoci a vicenda, ridendo e scherzando sui vizi e virtù di romani e genovesi. Ci siamo visti di persona solo una volta, incrociandoci per caso nel 2011 a Bologna al concerto di Paul McCartney, ma ormai mi sembrava davvero di conoscerci da sempre. Era un songwriter brillante e curioso, fan di Joe Jackson, Xtc, e ultimamente di Luis Cole. Le cover dei Cardiacs che ha registrato - suonando tutto lui - erano favolose così come le sue cose, sia che uscissero a suo nome che con i Senpai o i Salinas Band. Arrangiatore finissimo per quartetto d'archi, siamo anche riusciti a fare delle cose insieme. Te ne sei andato troppo presto Paolo, mi mancherai. Ma come si dice in questi casi, perché è una grande verità, la musica rimane, così come il ricordo di te e dei golden years condivisi insieme. 💔

Questa è "War Waltz", per la quale Paolo arrangiò il quartetto d'archi che riuscì ad ascoltare nella versione strumentale ma non in quella finale col cantato. Il video è stato realizzato grazie alla collaborazione con sua figlia Mashoon, animatrice e cartoonist prodigiosa. È una cosa bella.

That's a really special show by Adrian Bell!
After the Cardiacs concert in Manchester he did a big "round up" of all the people in the audience that have a band, from all over the world, and linked them all together in the same episode! We're present with our "Careful of Neon Lights" (from "Black and Gold") but there are TONS of brilliant music, as usual! It's the #453 show after all.
