Public Radio was clearly alive and well at the NPR gala last night honoring Stephen Colbert! And OMG the little chocolate cups...

It's today! Our baby is out in the world. When I dreamed up the poster and started working with the fabulous artists Tatiana Bischak and Nick Matej, coming up with the tiny icons that somehow captured each of the 118 shows, I never expected to end up here, with a deluxe hardcover that not only showcases their gorgeous work but also demanded that I (with Joe's insightful help) think deeply about the art form. I have a far better grasp on the traditions, trends, innovations and hundreds of trailblazing artists than I did back then because of the 140 essays I wrote for this book, and I'm so grateful to the people at Union Square & Co. for seeing its potential. I hope it becomes a first reference for many young Broadway fans, and brings joy (and even some new historical tidbits) to longtime aficionados like I suspect many of you reading this. Thanks to everyone who's supported this from the beginning, your encouragement has meant a lot.
