Patek Philippe World Time 5110R
Patek Philippe’s 5110 reference was introduced in 2000 and remained in production until 2006, then giving way to subsequent reference 5130. It is one of the most refined and elegant interpretations of the complication of the world’s hours, which saw the light inside a clock in 1931, thanks to the invention of Louis Cottier. Subsequently, Cottier collaborated with great Maisons such as Vacheron Constantin and, in fact, Patek Philippe. Precisely from the collaboration with the Stern family brand was born, in 1937, the smallest wristwatch in the world with universal time, the Ref. 1415 HU.
The Ref. 5110R proposed here dates back to 2002, it has a classic 37 mm Calatrava case in rose gold, the silver dial with a guilloche processing in the center, surrounded by the swivel ring with the names of 24 cities that defines the unmistakable aesthetics of this Patek Philippe. The timepiece allows the wearer to keep track of both the local time and the home time by adjusting the ring of the cities only by pressing the button positioned at 10 o’clock, which is used to set the time of the reference city, always located at 12 o’clock. Then you set the local time with the crown, making sure that the 24-hour disk, which moves in sync with the hands, shows the correct AM or PM for its local time zone. At 6 o’clock, set in the case, there is the classic diamond that characterizes the platinum versions of Patek Philippe.
Inside the case works the automatic caliber of manufacture 240 HU with 21,600 alternations/hour and about 48 hours of power reserve. Finely worked and visible through the sapphire crystal back, this movement stands out for the microrotor with the Calatrava cross engraved on it. The watch is completed by a black alligator strap with a deployant buckle also bearing the Calatrava cross. This Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5110R is proposed full set.
