On this photo, you can see Grandmaster Taejoon Lee who is conducting classes at the Hwa Rang Do Club Luxembourg, FIRST blindfolded watermelon cut at one of his annual high school mandatory school assemblies where the entire student body and faculty came out to see him and his Laguna Hills High School Hwa Rang Do® Club members perform:

It's actually a very interesting story. One night when the young Grandmaster Lee was in his mid-teens while he was practicing begisul (cutting with sword) in the backyard, Dojoonim Dr. Joo Bang Lee (his father, master & founder of Hwa Rang Do®) asked him to strike him on the head. Dr. Lee sat motionless on the edge of the koi pond in a meditative lotus position. The young master could not refuse his father's wishes. He approached him reluctantly, but knew he must do as his master had said and he could not show fear or hesitation. Dr. Lee, "Strike! Strike to the top of my head and stop as close as you can without cutting me." The young master had no time to think, to doubt, to worry. With a loud yell, he swung his sword and stopped only a few millimeters from the top of his father forehead. His father still motionless and without even a blink of an eye said, "Now you're ready." And that was the day that Grandmaster Taejoon Lee received permission to start performing the blinded watermelon cuts for demonstrations. It is the power of belief even when you do not believe in yourself, that allows us to flourish and accomplish the impossible!
