Il documentario irlandese con il miglior esordio di sempre, “The Queen of Ireland” segue Rory dalla piccola città di Ballinrobe fino alla ribalta internazionale, raccontando come il suo alter ego Panti sia diventato il simbolo della lotta per il matrimonio egualitario in Irlanda.

Ready to celebrate Pride together? 🌈

The Embassy is to take part in the in Rome with the screening of “The Queen of Ireland”, a documentary dedicated to the life of Rory O’Neill, AKA Panti Bliss✨

Securing the largest-ever opening for an Irish documentary, “The Queen of Ireland” follows Rory's journey from the small Mayo town of Ballinrobe to striding the world stage, with his alter ego Panti becoming the symbol of Ireland's march towards marriage equality.

We were delighted to welcome Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and for Defence Helen Mc Entee to Rome on Monday for a busy programme of official engagements ahead of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, which starts on 1 July 2026 🇮🇪🇪🇺

Minister McEntee exchanged views on current international issues with her Italian counterparts, Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade Antonio Tajani and Minister for Defence Guido Crosetto.

The Minister also met with Professor Enrico Letta to discuss the “One Europe, One Market” roadmap and Ireland’s priorities for its EU Presidency.

💼Minister McEntee was later joined at the Embassy by senior representatives of Irish Italian businesses, alongside Enterprise Ireland, Turismo Irlandese, Bord Bia - Irish Food Board, and the Irish Business Network in Italy for a roundtable discussion on trade, investment and tourism activities and opportunities.
