Years ago Aristotle was stating “μέσον τε καὶ ἄριστον” that means “the virtue lies in the middle”.
Greek people were not fascinated by excess, they were asked to find a balance between extremes, the ideal measure. Calibrating emotions and actions is the focus point to avoid risky and unfair behaviours in order to be human being with controlled instincts. μέσον or “Meson” is everything and its opposite, is the golden mean.
Classical Art is the quintessential materialization of this feeling as it can be seen from smiley expressions and relaxed poses.
We take ourselves less seriously: we’re creating beauty, not mechanics.
