Naples and Beyond

Ingrid Bergman and George Sanders, on the verge of divorce, walk around the ruins of Pompeii that are in parallel with their marriage. The film, shot in 1954, show how devastated the city was at that time and how much has been rebuilt since then. I love the final scene when they walk across the Palestra (now closed for restoration) and drive off in their old Rolls Royce convertible parked conveniently in front of the amphiteatre. Oh those were the days!
