Verbs of motion 🤟🏻 yeahhh
Let’s start from the very beginning.

🔴 NOTE: all the paired verbs of motion without prefixes are IMPERFECTIVE.

The verbs “ИДТИ-ХОДИТЬ” convey motion of people or animals ON FOOT. They are also used to describe the motion of public transport.
✔️ ИДТИ - unidirectional - a movement in one direction or to a named destination.
The key words:
➖СЕГОДНЯ today
➖ЗАВТРА tomorrow
➖СЕЙЧАС right now
✏️Я иду на работу. ↪️ I’m going to work.
✏️Сегодня мы идём в ресторан. We’re going to a restaurant tonight.
✏️Сейчас я иду домой. I’m going home right now.
✏️Автобус идёт. A bus goes.
✔️ХОДИТЬ - multidirectional - to describe repeated return journeys and habitual actions or a random motion.
The key words:
➖КАЖДЫЙ ДЕНЬ every day
➖ОБЫЧНО usually
➖ВСЕГДА always
➖ЧАСТО often
➖НИКОГДА never
✏️Я хожу на работу. 🔁 I go to work.
✏️Каждый вторник я хожу в спортзал. Every Tuesday I go to the gym.
✏️Мы часто ходим в кино. We often go to the movies.
✏️Он никогда туда не ходит. He never goes there.
✏️Трамвай #4 ходит по этой улице. The tram #4 goes along this street.
✔️ХОДИТЬ also denotes the ability or skill to perform an action:
Ребёнок ещё не ходит. A kid can’t walk yet.
❗️To memorize:
➖Время идёт. Time is going by.
➖Жизнь идёт. Life is passing.
➖На улице идёт дождь. It’s raining.
➖В театре идёт спектакль. There is a play in the theater.
PS: the Russian system of motional verbs is absolutely different from English. You should take into consideration the Russian logic but not to translate the verb “go”from English into Russian.

✔️ДОЛГО implies the duration of an action.
✔️ДАВНО indicates a period of time that has passed since the moment of an action.
✏️Он долго ждал её в ресторане.
He has been waiting for her at a restaurant for a long time.
✏️Я долго жила и работала в Китае.
I have lived and worked in China for a long time.
✏️Она давно изучала русский язык.
She studied Russian a long time ago.
✏️Это было давно.
That was a long time ago.
❗️ДАВНО and THE PRESENT TENSE are used to show that an action has already been lasting for some time:
✏️Ты давно её знаешь?
How long have you known her?
✏️Я давно думаю об этом.
I’ve been thinking about that for a long time now.
✏️Он давно живёт здесь?
Has he been living here for long?
❗️ДОЛГО and THE FUTURE TENSE are used to find out when an action can be finished:
✏️Ты долго ещё будешь здесь?
How much longer will you be here?
✏️Мы ещё долго будем тебя ждать? - уже иду!
How much longer will we have to wait for you?
- I’m coming!
✏️Ты долго ещё будешь работать? - весь вечер.
How much longer will you be working? - the whole evening.
