Laura wanted to have a tattoo related to death and the Yoruba avatar of death “Ikù”. The idea was to keep death closeby as a reminder and also a protection.

Iku’s appearance is deeply symbolic.
He is more metaphor than literal image. In Yoruba cosmology, Iku is a shape-shifter. It may arrive quietly through a crack in a wall; its presence is often only recognized by the absence it leaves behind.
This representation reminds believers that death is both mysterious and inevitable.

That’s why I thought about the concept of the non human face, in the darkness of a cracked wall.. She can feel his presence in the shadows.
I choosed to add ornamental flames as a decoration and a frame, to remind the darkness of death that looks out but remains hidden.

Grazie al mio amichetto e collega per avermi affidato un progetto così importante 🖤

Un progetto simmetrico e speculare è sempre tosto, perché sappiamo che il corpo non lo è, non siamo perfettamente simmetrici, quindi i suoi volumi e piccole asimmetrie potrebbero remare contro certi progetti.

Però ci siamo preparati bene, abbiamo fatto delle prove per adattare al meglio i disegni agli spazi vuoti.

Visto che Stefano ha una manica chiusa e l’altra no, il grosso rischio qui era che otticamente il nostro progetto speculare non rendesse giustizia per via del vuoto sulla spalla destra.

Le opzioni erano decidere per un progetto che avrebbe riempito la spalla a discapito della simmetria, o mantenerlo simmetrico per andare successivamente a fillare lo spazio che si sarebbe venuto a creare.

Abbiamo deciso per la seconda, per dare più armonia a questi rami di oleandro che si poggiano sulle spalle fino a chiudere in alto il petto.

Questo per molti potrebbe essere un trigger micidiale, ma del tutto momentaneo.

Pensate che strutturare bene i tatuaggi sul corpo richiede visione, pazienza e fiducia in chi vi tatua, ma che se siete disposti a considerare tutti questi aspetti non potrete mai sbagliare..
