Major works on the railway overpass at Ponte al Pino will bring significant disruption to Florence’s rail network between July 5-10 and July 27-30, as essential replacement works deemed no longer postponable by infrastructure manager Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) require a full closure of road and rail traffic in the area.

The region has secured third place nationally in the latest Il Mare più Bello (“The Most Beautiful Sea”) guide by Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano, with four coastal destinations awarded the prestigious Five Sails recognition for environmental quality, sustainable tourism and landscape protection.

The annual ranking evaluates much more than water quality, taking into account biodiversity protection, sustainable mobility, responsible tourism policies and climate resilience initiatives.
Nationally, Tuscany follows Sardinia (6 Five Sails destinations) and Puglia (5), confirming its place among Italy’s leading regions for sustainable coastal tourism.
Among the highlights featured in the 2026 guide are the artistic wonder of the Tarot Garden in Capalbio and the Burano Lake Nature Reserve, one of the Maremma coast’s most important ecosystems and a haven for birdwatchers.
