Arianna in charcoal! My last charcoal drawing with and lookin forward to playing around with the medium in my own time. Happy with how this turned out even though I accident,y cut a hole right through the face. I was able to fix it at least, so I didn’t waste the 72 hours worth of model time.

I remember back in Brevard, after class, I’d go to a drawing group in town and I’d practice my figure drawing along side some seriously skilled folks. One evening was looking at my drawing for the evening and suggested that if I ever could I should study at an atelier to refine some of my skills in likeness. I think about that moment a lot now that I’m finally at such a program! I’m lucky to have met so many inspiring people along the way here. Im glad I took her advice and gained these skills! I’m glad I’m learning what it takes to make such incredible drawings like what I saw in that group years ago.

Finished off this last term testing out carbon pencils and playing around with the value that they can produce as opposed to graphite. Big fan of the warmer tones and deeper shades but the carbon breaking as I was sharpening damn near radicalized me.
