No access to eruption due to inclement weather The police has decided to close all access to the Meradalir eruption, starting at 05:00 this morning. In the afternoon, the police will assess the situation and possibly reopen the area, based on advice from the Met Office.

“High” likelihood of eruption in coming days or weeks New satellite imagery clearly shows magma movement beneath the surface between Fagradalsfjall and Keilir on the Reykjanes peninsula, to the northeast of the site of last year’s volcanic eruption.
