Personally, I find following Judgment/order of the Madras High Court just and good, saying, "Bar associations can't prevent advocates from appearing before courts". Vide this order the Hon'ble High Court set aside a decision taken by the Tambaram Bar Association, Chennai to suspend a lawyer who had attended court proceedings after it called for a boycott.
I am all in favor of unity and solidarity of the Bar Associations but suspending work on every other day for unreasonable reasons cause uncountable harassment to the victim litigants that certainly goes in favor of the Offenders/Goons/Criminals. It gives impression to the general public that our Judicial system is pro-offenders. Being officers of the Court the Advocates must not be instrument in spreading such negativity in the society.
