Ukkad is a traditional Maharashtrian breakfast that has been made in our homes for generations. But with modern lifestyles, many of us are forgetting these wholesome, nourishing recipes.
Made using rice flour and buttermilk, Ukkad is light on the stomach and perfect for rainy or cool weather. While rice flour is commonly used, you can also prepare it with ragi, jowar, bajra, or even wheat flour.
It’s especially soothing when your digestion feels off, making it an ideal comfort food. From a nutrition point of view – yes, it contains carbs and some protein – but if you’re a healthy individual, don’t obsess over calories. Enjoy our traditional meals without guilt – they’re way better than any so-called “healthy” packaged food!
