Thane (Ghodbunder Road): A joint patrol team of the Revenue, Forest Department and Maharashtra Maritime Board has taken a major action against illegal sand mining in the Naglabundar area of ​​Gaimukh Bay. While patrolling the bay, the team found a barge filled with approximately 13 tonnes of sand; after which the police have taken into custody the worker in the barge, Sukuruddin Sheikh, who has come to know that this barge belongs to Papya Koli from Kalher in Bhiwandi. In this raid, the police have seized a barge worth Rs 30 lakh, a suction pump worth Rs 10 lakh and sand worth Rs 65,520, totaling Rs 40,65,520, which was destroyed near the Ganesh Visarjan Ghat with the help of a barge gas cutter. In this case,a case has been registered against Sukuruddin Sheikh and Papya Koli at Kalwa Police Station under various serious sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including the Environment Protection, Prevention of Damage to Public Property and Mines and Minerals Act.

Thane: An air-conditioned double-decker electric bus has been introduced in the transport service of Thane Municipal Corporation & this bus was launched today by the Deputy Chief Minister of the State Eknath Shinde. This Double - Decker Bus will make Thanekars' journey more comfortable & convenient & we should take care of this bus as if it were our own,Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Shinde also mentioned on this occasion. At this occasion, Mayor Sharmila Pimpolkar, Civic Commissioner Saurabh Rao, District Collector Dr.Shrikrishna Panchal, Deputy Mayor Krishna Patil, Leader of the House Hanmant Jagdale, Leader of the Opposition Ashraf Shanu Pathan, Local Corporator Rajesh More,Corporator Kajal Gunijan, Addl.Comm(1) Sandeep Malvi, Addl.Comm(2) Prashant Rode, Deputy Comm. G.G.Godepure, Madhukar Bodke,Dr.Mitali Sancheti, Deepak Jinjad, Jitendra Nikam, TMT Manager Bhalchandra Behere were also present. The Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde travelled from Municipal Bhavan to Louiswadi and back to Municipal Bhavan in a Double-Decker Bus. These buses will be introduced in Thane Transport on GCC basis and no burden will fall on the transport service. In this Double - Decker Bus,65 passengers will be able to travel seated at a time, while 33 passengers will be able to travel standing. Currently, this bus will run on the route from Teen-Hath Naka to Gaimukh. He mentioned that since it is an electric bus, the journey of Thanekars will be environmentally friendly and Thanekars will be able to enjoy tourism in this bus. Transport Manager Bhalchandra Behere also mentioned that 9 more buses will soon be added to the transport fleet.
