“Article 370 Was Never the Villain, Nor Did Its Removal Bring a Development Boom”: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, June 5: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said that Article 370 was never responsible for Jammu and Kashmir’s lack of development and that its abrogation has not resulted in any extraordinary economic progress. Speaking at The Hindu Huddle, Omar asserted that the region’s developmental setbacks were primarily caused by decades of violence and instability, not by its former special constitutional status. He maintained that claims linking Article 370 to underdevelopment were misleading and said the expected development surge after its removal has not materialized.
