On this occasion of WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY, we, The members of ALPINE CLUB stand with the rights of journalists.

Press freedom is a fundamental human right that allows journalists to report on issues of public interest without fear of censorship or persecution. It is essential for a functioning democracy, as it enables citizens to access accurate and diverse information, hold those in power accountable, and participate in informed decision-making.
Unfortunately, press freedom is under threat in many parts of the world. Journalists face harassment, intimidation, and violence for reporting on sensitive topics, and governments often use legal and administrative measures to restrict media freedom.

On this World Press Freedom Day, let us recognize the vital role of journalists in promoting transparency, accountability, and democracy . Let us also call on governments to respect and protect press freedom, and to ensure that journalists can work safely and without fear of reprisals.
