The Early Influences

North Indian cuisine has its roots in the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, where people consumed rice, wheat, and lentils. Later, the region was influenced by Central Asian traders, who brought spices and techniques for using them. The Mughals, who ruled India from the 16th to the 19th centuries, introduced Persian and Turkish dishes, which became an integral part of North Indian cuisine. The Mughals also brought with them the concept of slow cooking and the use of aromatic spices.🙂

Regional Variations

North India has several states, each with its own regional cuisine. The regional cuisines have unique ingredients, spices, and techniques that make them distinct from each other. For example, Punjabi cuisine is known for its tandoori dishes, while Awadhi cuisine is known for its slow-cooked dishes.
