~ Indian Spot-billed Duck

Landing.....

A large grayish-brown duck with a diagnostic yellow-tipped black bill and a red spot at the base of the bill (missing in certain subspecies). In flight, note the green panel in the wing that is bordered in white. Often seen in small groups dabbling or tipping up in shallow water or walking on marshy land at the edge of freshwater lakes or in cultivated fields. Usually not seen associating with other species. Similar to Eastern Spot-billed Duck, but note green wing panel, lack of a distinct dark "moustache", and overall warmer tan coloration.

~ Chestnut-tailed Minla

This brightly-colored social bird is a frequent attendant of mixed-species flocks. Relatively large size and combination of flashy colors and patterns scattered across its brownish body make this species unmistakable. Found in mid- to high-elevation wooded areas; prefers broadleaf and mixed evergreen forests. Gives a song of 3-4 sweet-sounding slurred whistles and a loud, squeaky call that sounds like a dog toy being stepped on.

~Plumbeous Water Redstart♀️

Small, sturdy songbird of fast-flowing streams and rivers. Regularly ventures into waterside human settlements, around dams, levees, and canals. Male is slaty gray-blue with a brilliant orange tail that is often fanned. Female and juvenile are gunmetal gray with scaly undersides and bright white on the upper half of the tail. High, whistled vocalizations can often be surprisingly audible, even over roaring water.
