Objectives:

Individual Rotary clubs sponsor Rotaract clubs and offer guidance and support, making the Rotaract club true ‘partners in service’ and key members of the family of Rotary. Objectives:
• The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
• High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
• The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life.
• The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. Rotary is dedicated to six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever. These include:
• Promoting peace
Rotary encourages conversations to foster understanding within and across cultures. We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas.
• Fighting disease
We educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life- threatening diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. We improve and expand access to low-cost and free health care in developing areas.
• Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
We support local solutions to bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to more people every day. We don’t just build wells and walk away. We share our expertise with community leaders and educators to make sure our projects succeed long-term.
• Saving mothers and children
Nearly 6 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutrition, poor health care, and inadequate sanitation. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and their children can live and grow stronger.
• Supporting education
More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
• Growing local economies
We carry out service projects that enhance economic and community development and create opportunities for decent and productive work for young and old. We also strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.Ending polio forever
Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for over 30 years, and our goal of ridding the earth of this disease is in sight. We started in 1979 with vaccinations for 6 million children in the Philippines. Today, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan are the only countries where polio remains endemic. Ending polio forever

Visiting Oldage Home
Location: Shanti Bhawan
Description:
• The oldage home give shelters to the old people and to some leprosy affected people who are abandoned by their families,friends and relatives.
• It is run by nuns of a Christian trust.
• The stories behind every people staying there are heartbreaking.
• Many aged people staying there were not homeless.
• They had their families somewhere in the city,or nearby towns.
• They were left there to spend the rest of their lives because their families didn’t want them anymore. What Rotaractors do:
Happiness is a state of mind:
• Some were rejected by their own families. Some were ill. But, the joy and smiles they had on their face could bring all of us to shame who grunt at every tiny displeasure we come across.
• We,as Rotaractors bring them games and play with them to break the monotony of their life.
• We encourage them to tell their happy stories rather than sad ones.The old people tell their life stories, their love stories, their arranged marriage stories and other happy memories.
• Our main objective is to spread smiles and laughs on their faces. People don’t need gifts or money, they need your time:
• We interact with them to know their problems and try to fix them.
• We put some acts like play, comedy, dance and songs before them.
• We sing and dance with them. In this process, we spread joy and love in their lives.
• We donated used but maintained clothes to them which were collected from the residential area of NIT,rkl. SOS Trip
SOS stands for Save Our Soul.It is an orphanage which is run by a German social service organization.It is for the underprivileged and orphan children. An orphanage needs help for the years to come to help sustain its students and the orphanage itself. Donating and giving time to a charitable cause gives the hall marks of excellence. The beneficiaries will be children in need.
