A menstrual hygiene awareness program was conducted for the girls of Grades 5 to 8 to educate them about the importance of personal hygiene and overall well-being.* The resource person for the session was Dr. Sonali Shahi, MBBS, MS (Obs & Gynae), Consultant Gynaecologist at Rishi Hospital, Roorkee, with 12 years of experience in the field of women’s health.
She has previously served as a Senior Consultant at St. Joseph Hospital, Civil Lines, Roorkee, Government Medical College Haldwani, and Medical College Srinagar, bringing with her vast expertise and experience.
During the session, she shared valuable insights on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the physical as well as emotional changes during adolescence. The session was highly informative and interactive, where students were encouraged to ask questions and clear their doubts in a comfortable environment.

Dr. Shahi also emphasized breaking myths and taboos surrounding menstruation and highlighted the importance of maintaining proper hygiene for a healthy lifestyle. The program was truly enlightening and beneficial for the students.”
