श्रेष्ठ कौन ?

अभयकुमार - भंते ! आप भिक्षु को श्रेष्ठ मानते हैं या गृहस्थ को ?
महावीर - मैं संयम को श्रेष्ठ मानता हूं |
संयमरत गृहस्थ और भिक्षु दोनों ही श्रेष्ठ हैं और असंयम रत गृहस्थ और भिक्षु दोनों ही श्रेष्ठ नहीं है |

Who is the best ?

Abhayakumar Asks to Mahavira - My Lord! Do you consider the monk is highest good or the householder?

Mahavira - I consider abstemiousness as highest good. Both gentlemen and monks are excellent but the incontroverted householder and monk are not the best.
