Paneer Butter Masala full recipe
Paneer Butter Masala is a popular North Indian dish made with paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a creamy tomato-based gravy. Here's a recipe for making Paneer Butter Masala at home:
Ingredients:
200g paneer
2 medium-sized onions, chopped
2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
1-inch ginger, chopped
4-5 garlic cloves, chopped
2-3 green chillies, slit
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
2-3 cloves
1-inch cinnamon stick
1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp garam masala powder
1/4 cup fresh cream
2 tbsp butter
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Cut the paneer into small cubes and keep aside.
Heat a pan and add 1 tbsp butter. Add the paneer cubes and fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove from the pan and keep aside.
In the same pan, add 1 tbsp butter and cumin seeds. Let the cumin seeds splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
Add chopped ginger, garlic, and green chillies. Sauté for a minute.
Add chopped tomatoes and mix well. Cook until the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
Add Kashmiri red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for a minute.
Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool down.
Transfer the cooled mixture to a blender and blend it into a smooth puree.
Heat the same pan and add 1 tbsp butter. Add the puree and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add garam masala powder and mix well.
Add fresh cream and mix well. Cook for a minute.
Add fried paneer cubes and mix well.
Add water to adjust the consistency of the gravy.
Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the paneer is coated well with the gravy.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or roti.
