Redefining "The Job": Service as a Purpose

At the ISDG Research Foundation’s 7th Foundation Day, we moved beyond the typical celebration. Instead, we sat down for a profound dialogue with Mr. Atul Gera, founder of Life Savers Jharkhand, on a theme that challenges the modern professional: "Along the Job: Making Service Your Purpose."

We often view work as a calculation—input vs. output. But Mr. Gera reminded us that true fulfillment begins where the spreadsheet ends.

Key Takeaways:
Beyond Calculation: Shift from "What do I get?" to "What can I give?" to find lasting satisfaction.

Taming the Ego: Service is a privilege, not a badge of superiority.

The Balancing Act: Professionalism provides the platform, but the spirit of service adds the meaning.

Don't let peer pressure or ego dim your light. Service isn't a distraction from your career; it is the heartbeat of a life well-lived.

It is insightful to witness the impact of scientific training on traditional practices. In Bishunpur, a tribal woman farmer is transforming her small-scale piggery.

By shifting to balanced, healthy feed, her initial unit of 4 pigs (1 male, 3 female) has successfully grown to a thriving lot of 10!

Best Practices for Success:
- Nutritious Feed: Use a mix of grains, minerals, and clean kitchen waste.
- Hygiene: Regularly clean enclosures to prevent disease.
- Vaccination: Timely deworming and shots are crucial.
- Clean Water: Ensure 24/7 access to fresh water.

Empowering farmers through knowledge ensures long-term food security and economic growth.

Facilitating Rural Entrepreneurship in Chhattisgarh

We are proud to announce that 20 farmers from the SmartKisan Cooperative Society, an FPO promoted by ISDG Research Foundation supported by NABARD have reached a significant milestone.

In a public ceremony in Kanker, Chhattisgarh, 4 high-capacity leaf plate (dona pattal) making units were handed over to them by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KVIC.

Following comprehensive training in production and entrepreneurship, these farmers are now equipped to lead sustainable rural enterprises. This intervention strengthens local value chains and promotes eco-friendly livelihoods.

Empowering the backbone of agriculture in Khunti!

ISDG Research Foundation, in collaboration with Hindustan Copper Limited (CSR), organized a village-level training today in Oskeya, Murhu Block. Over 50 tribal women farmers gathered to lead the shift toward high-value pulses and oilseeds.

Our technical session focused on:
✅ Soil Health Testing: The foundation for scientific nutrient management.
✅ Scientific Package of Practices: Adopting line sowing and IPM to boost per-hectare productivity.
✅ Collective Action: Strengthening rural self-reliance through FPO models and shared processing.

By transitioning from traditional growers to Agri-entrepreneurs, these women are driving local nutrition security and supporting India’s national priority of edible oil self-sufficiency. 🇮🇳
