Ratha Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is a grand and ancient Hindu festival celebrated primarily in Puri, Odisha, in honor of Lord Jagannath, a form of Lord Vishnu. It marks the annual ceremonial journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, from their temple (Jagannath Temple) to the Gundicha Temple, which is considered their maternal aunt’s home.
This journey symbolizes the Lord stepping out of His sanctum to give darshan (divine presence) to all devotees, especially those who cannot enter the temple. It is a powerful message of inclusiveness, devotion, and unity.
