Custom takes time.

This basement was always going to have a split personality! One half of the space was envisioned as a classic billiards room. The other, a more relaxed basement hangout with a gym, a pool table, space for friends to gather, and a collection of art pieces that the family had accumulated over the years.

But this project came with a few complications.
For starters, it was a renovation. And the existing billiards table had to stay exactly where it was. Moving it wasn’t really an option not unless we wanted to bring in specialists to recalibrate the table afterwards. Which meant even something as simple as replacing the flooring around it became a carefully planned exercise.

The billiards area has a warmer, more classic feel with wooden flooring, while the gym transitions into a concrete and timber chequered pattern. Different materials, different moods, but enough common elements to make the whole space feel connected.

Oh and the artwork is just pretty damn cool..Some of those pieces are worth lingering over longer than the workout!
