Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), New Law College, Pune, actively participated in the Higher Education Pustak Mahotsav, an initiative promoted by the Higher and Technical Education Department in association with National Book Trust, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Government of Maharashtra to strengthen reading culture and enhance academic curiosity among students.
As part of this initiative, the college organized a dedicated library activity designed to encourage students and faculty to explore diverse academic resources and engage meaningfully with reading material beyond their regular curriculum.
The program was efficiently organised with the support of Dr Mohan Jamdade and the Library Staff, who ensured effective coordination and a reader-friendly environment throughout the activity.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Dr Shashikant Hajare, Principal, New Law College, Pune.
Overall, the Pustak Mahotsav activity proved to be a meaningful step toward fostering a vibrant reading culture and strengthening student engagement with academic literature.

On the Occasion of Human Rights Day, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Deemed to be University, New Law College, Pune, has organised an Online Lecture on "Significance of Human Rights" on 10 December 2025.
It began with a welcome note by Dr Salil Shringarpure, NSS Program Officer at New Law College, Pune. He highlighted the significance of Human Rights Day and emphasised the need to strengthen awareness and commitment toward constitutional values and social justice.
The lecture was delivered by Dr Nitish Nawsagaray, Associate Professor at ILS Law College, Pune, who provided insight into modern perspectives on human rights. He dwelled on modern challenges concerning digital rights, gender justice, the environment, and other issues regarding marginalised communities. He further explained the practical and legal aspects of human rights in light of the current socio-legal context.
The event saw active participation from 274 attendees, including faculty members and students, reflecting strong institutional engagement.
Towards the end of the lecture, Dr Nawsagaray also responded to some queries posed by students, providing very thoughtful explanations.
The event was conducted successfully with the guidance and support of Dr Shashikant Hajare, Principal, New Law College, Pune.
A vote of thanks by Dr Salil Shringarpure, who thanked the speaker, the principal, and all the participants in making this a meaningful observance of Human Rights Day, brought the session to a close.
