Sharing this because it’s important data for pet parents to be aware of.
Clean Label Project tested 79 popular dog foods for heavy metals, plastic-related chemicals (like DEHP), and acrylamide (a compound formed during high-heat processing).
Their report shows that, on average:
• Dry dog food contained higher levels of heavy metals
• Dry dog food showed higher acrylamide and DEHP
• Fresh/frozen foods showed the lowest levels
This doesn’t mean panic.
It means we start asking better questions about sourcing, testing, and processing.
Small steps that can make a difference:
✔ Rotate proteins
✔ Add fresh food as a topper or one daily meal
✔ Ask brands about independent testing
✔ Consult your vet before major changes
