I have never been a coffee drinker myself but “is there any downside to drinking coffee?” is probably one of the most frequent questions I am asked, given that I seem to be surrounded by both casual coffee drinkers as well as coffee aficionados. Unlike most of my other posts, I don’t have personal data to share on this topic (post #32), but I have to say that, as I dug into the published scientific literature, I was surprised at how much this beverage has been researched and yet the mechanisms behind why it works isn’t completely understood.

Today’s post ( #26) is about a question, the answer to which has probably been the most eye opening for me over the last ten years, but more more importantly a life-changing one: Does my healthcare system truly care about my health? TLDR: It is becoming increasingly difficult to answer that question with a yes. For more on why that is the case and what you can do about it, read on …

This post ( #22) took a while to write because it is both a complex topic as well as an important one. It required simplification of difficult-to-understand concepts but without dumbing it down to the point of being incorrect. Unlike my preventive health posts, the cancer screening test I write about in this post is something I have researched a lot over the last almost two years but have not taken the leap of getting myself tested. Thanks to a nudge from Sanjay Bhargava, I was forced to write down my thought process, how it has evolved over the last couple of years and where I stand on it now. This is also the type of topic that there will be widely varying views on; as always I don’t claim that my approach is right for everyone but rather it provides a transparent view of my modus operandi and in the process hopefully enables you to think about things you might otherwise not have. Hope you find this useful and as always, please share it with anyone that you think could benefit from it
