Draupadi characterised by Ameera Patankar: Kathak, Pune

Draupadi - radiant, proud and extra ordinarily beautiful… She was a strong, courageous woman who stood her ground in the face of every austerity and demanded justice. She had ultimate faith in Lord Krishna as her friend, brother, Guru. Ameera Patankar depicts this multi faceted personality in Kathak known for its virtuous, rhythmic aspect and subtle, poignant ‘abhinaya’. A topper from Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University, Ameera is a leading dancer of Smt. Shama Bhate’s troupe since last 5 years. She is a National Scholarship holder and has received the title of ‘Singarmani’.

Duryodhana characterised by Rakesh Saibabu: Chhau, Delhi

Duryodhana was a great warrior who truly believed that he was the heir apparent to the throne of Hastinapura - hence his deep grudge against the Pandavas. His lust for power and uncompromising attitude led to many of his evil acts and ultimate fall of Kauravas. This boisterous character is portrayed by Rakesh Saibabu through the virile and graceful stances and movements of Mayurbhanj Chhau, the unique martial dance form of Odisha. A handsome, virtuous rising star, Rakesh hails from a royal ancestry of Mayurbhanj Chhau dancers. He has performed at numerous prestigious festivals in India and abroad.
