Shri Arvind Kumar, DG STPI shared his perspective in Q & A session on Democratizing of Entrepreneurship in TiE Global Summit, 2024. He congratulated TiE Bangalore for organizing TGS 2024 and aptly described the conference as a "Sangam" of entrepreneurship, where TiE serves as Saraswati, sharing knowledge, while STPI and the Karnataka Government represent the Ganga and Yamuna of the summit.
He highlighted following key points:
➡️STPI, through its 65 centers and 24 CoEs, is fostering translational research to drive startup growth.
➡️He emphasized the need to utilize Indian capital instead of relying on foreign funding to fund startups.
➡️He outlined that more than 50 percent startups are emerging from Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Similarly, more than 50% of the startups are led by women entrepreneurs.
➡️He advocated for establishing entrepreneurship schools at the village level.
➡️He highlighted that startups are no longer confined to conventional business models, with many now venturing into deep-tech areas such as AI.

Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI addressed the startups and innovators at the 1st NE Summit in Kohima and highlighted on following points:
1. He emphasized that STPI is now fostering innovation and nurturing startups, particularly in the deep-tech sector. He informed that while STPI is committed to providing the necessary facilities, state governments may utilize maximize resources of STPI for the benefit of their regions.
2. He spoke about the ongoing "second revolution" in technology. Unlike the earlier era where computing and coding were restricted to a select few, today, anyone with a strong idea can leverage AI tools to make impactful contributions to technology and highlighted the success of India's digital initiatives, he lauded the government for the robust digital public infrastructure, citing over more than 16 billion monthly transactions through UPI as a prime example of its effectiveness.
3. He outlined three emerging trends shaping the current tech landscape as follows:
➡️Deep-Tech Startups: A growing number of startups are venturing into deep-tech domains, and he expressed optimism that states like Nagaland could emerge as leaders in this field.
➡️Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities as Digital Hubs: He observed an increasing number of startups originating from Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities as Digital Hubs signalling a broader entrepreneurial wave across India.
➡️Manufacturing Growth: He underlined the government's focus on strengthening the manufacturing sector through initiatives like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, urging Nagaland to capitalize on its strengths, such as high literacy rates and a young, dynamic population.
DG STPI concluded by encouraging stakeholders to leverage STPI's facilities and resources to drive innovation and growth, positioning Nagaland as a key player in the emerging tech and manufacturing ecosystems in the country.
