धनतेरस, किंवा धनत्रयोदशी ही आश्विन महिन्याच्या १३ व्या दिवशी असते. या दिवशी देवांचा वैद्य धन्वंतरी याचा जन्म झाला. म्हणून या दिवशी धन्वंतरीची पूजा करतात. काही लोक या दिवशी लक्ष्मी मातेची पूजा करतात.
