Catch us in Bengaluru on the 22nd!

A Happy New Year to all our friends, followers and rasikas. We are delighted to be back with a monthly series called "First Light" featuring young Indian classical musicians, Hindustani and Carnatic, coming into their own. Starting from January 22nd at the lovely foyer of the Bangalore International Centre in Domlur, we will be organising a morning concert from 10 and to noon on the 3rd Sunday of every month. The young musicians will specially present traditional, and rarely heard compositions or those with aesthetic features that appeal to them as individuals. Along with the concert they will take the audience into the creative processes and thinking that is part of every serious preparation. We hope that this exchange will strengthen the bond between audiences and the young musicians who are just starting out on their journey.

We start the first of the series with three very talented musicians from Pune who are thinking about their art form and its expression in distinctive ways. Hindustani vocalist Keyur Kurulkar will be joined by Pārth Tārābādkar on tabla and Saumitra Kshirsagar on harmonium. All are welcome to attend this series of concerts.

These concert series are produced by Kishima Arts Foundation, our non-profit sister concern, as a part of a long-term project to create a public digital archive of rare and traditional compositions featuring Gurus and senior musicians.

We will, of course, be filming these concerts and sharing them on the First Edition Arts YouTube channel to provide a ready platform and free access to listeners and rasikas worldwide to these fine young musicians and the unique compositions and conversations they will present.
